Changing Default Password for Devices

This article details the process of maintaining devices on Legacy orchestrator, from the On First Login state to the In Service state, after performing a factory reset or managing the initial installation of the devices.

This procedure applies to Legacy orchestrator 24.09 or later and it is applicable when Legacy orchestrator manages the following devices:

  • Assurance Sensor Control 24.09 and later
  • Assurance Sensors LT, LX, and GT 24.07 and later
  • Legacy Skylight performance element GX 24.07 and later

To change the default password for a device

  1. In the format below, prepare a .txt file containing the new password:
[INTERACT]***| user edit admin password

Where:

*** is the new device password.


Notes: Users must adhere to the correct format of the CLI script.

The new password must not include the backslash ( \ ) character or the word [INTERACT].


  1. Log in to Legacy orchestrator's GUI.

  2. Create the CLI Set by importing the .txt file prepared in Step 1.
    For detailed instructions on importing a CLI Set, refer to the Importing a CLI Set.

  3. Create the CLI Configuration Job associated with the CLI Set mentioned above. For more details, see Setting Up a CLI Configuration Job.

  4. Create the Job Executor associated with the CLI Configuration Job mentioned above, then execute it. Ensure the execution status is "Success." For more details, see Executing Configuration Jobs.

    The new device password should be successfully updated.

  5. Either update existing credentials with the new password or create new credentials to be assigned to devices on Legacy orchestrator.

To update an existing credential

a) Navigate to Devices ▶ Credentials.
b) In the Credentials page, select the existing credential.
c) Update the credential's username and password. For more details, refer to Setting Up Credentials for Devices.

To create a new credential

a) Navigate to Devices ▶ Credentials.
b) In the Credentials page, click the Add Credential Button_New_Generic.png button (above top left corner of the list).
c) Input the username and password for the new credential. For more details, refer to Setting Up Credentials for Devices.

  1. Assign the credentials to the devices. This action will transition the devices from the On First Login state to the In-Service state.

Tip: If assigning credentials to a large number of devices, it is highly recommended to use the Device Attribute job. For more details, refer to Setting Up a Device Attributes Configuration Job.
