Overview

User groups control access to resources and data within Provider Connectivity Assurance. They enable administrators and resource owners to:

  • Assign privilege levels to groups on specific resources. For example, a resource owner can allow a group to view, edit, or manage a given dashboard. See Dashboard Sharing for details.
  • Grant data access permissions to groups. See Data Permissions for details.
  • Organize users logically. A user can belong to more than one user group.

Create or Edit a User Group

To create or edit a user group:

  1. Go to Accounts > User groups.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. In the table, select the user group to configure. The details sidebar opens on the right.
    2. Click + in the upper-right. The New user group sidebar appears.
  3. Configure the parameters:
    1. Name: Enter a name for the user group.
    2. Starting dashboard: Select the dashboard users in this group land on when they sign in. If users belong to multiple groups that specify a starting dashboard, the first starting dashboard is applied.
    3. Permissions:  Assign data permissions, as well as category and metric visibility, for this user group. See Data Permissions  and Category and Metric Visibility for more information.
    4. Users: Click (Add) +, then select the users who should belong to this user group.
  4. Click the check icon in the upper-right to save and apply your configuration.
The group is now available for assigning access to resources.

Delete a User Group

  3. In the upper-right of the sidebar, click the ellipsis (...) then select Delete user group.
    A confirmation dialog appears.
  4. Click Delete to confirm, or Cancel to keep the group.
