Enhancements to how you find and compare objects
Despite record breaking amounts of snow for January in Canada's capital (close to 1 metre for your information), our team managed to dig themselves out and get to work (most days at least). Whether it was from home or the office - they've done an amazing job of bringing in a bunch of new features that are going to make our users' lives easier.
The executive summary
A focus on helping find and compare objects
We've added a bunch of new features this release solely to help power users find monitored objects or sets of objects more easily from both the network and dashboard views.
Comparisons have also never looked better! We've taken a crack at adding a few new tools to help with correlation and analysis. Expect these to undergo some refinement as we get your feedback over the next month.
New found stability
We were facing some stability issues on our backend that led to longer load times than we liked, and sometimes data not showing up at all! Fortunately the team rallied to tackle this one head on and we're seeing a huge improvement - users have once again have full visibility of their past (load times still may vary as systems rebuild their caches following the upgrade).
Feature upvoting
We're trialing a new way for users to share ideas for feature requests, and upvote/like other items in our backlog. This is just another way for users to have their say! It's now accessible via the intercom launch from our DataHUB tenant.
Note: Please only share ideas you want made public to all DataHUB users across all of Accedian's customers. We think this is the best way to foster a community that can build on each other's ideas, but if you'd prefer more discretion, you can continue to send us private messages via intercom or email with your new ideas.
Feature Highlights
"User" role
We've created a new non-admin privilege level that does not allow access to accounts and settings pages.
Searching made easy
- Multi-term searches are now supported to allow you to find a mix of monitored objects from the network view. This will make added metadata or launching comparisons much easier. You can even cut and paste any line delimited list (i.e. rows from excel)!
- Select all values for metadata filters (cause you'll only have the patience to select a hundred values once...)
- Also added dashes to our list of acceptable delimiters in object names (only underscores were supported before) - 50% of our customers will be very pleased to hear this!
Trend lines on TopN lists
To avoid the pain of opening up every monitored object on a TopN list to figure out which ones share the same pattern as the dashboard card you're investigating, we've added trend lines so you can quickly tell which TopN you should be focusing on.
Pin the ones that match and jump over to use some of our new comparison tools!
Metadata correlation (compare mode)
Let's leverage all of that metadata you've meticulously entered for your monitored objects to help find commonalities! You're going to want to play with this one to fully understand how useful its going to be.
Table view (compare mode)
Some people prefer tables to pictures and we're okay with that! Build your own table with the metadata and metrics you want, then view in DataHUB or export via CSV.
Geographic map view (compare mode)
Check out the start and end points of our monitored objects based on the GPS coordinates you have tagged in their metadata (you did remember to add coordinates right?).
Other compare features added
- Arrangement per series (separate graph for each line) to make viewing not via DataHUB easier when there are 10 lines on top of each other.
- PDF export option!
- Select all series for a particular metric - another huge time saver!
