Category and Metric Visibility

Overview

The Category and Metric Visibility section in the User groups ▶ Permissions tab is where you can control the categories and metrics that members of a user group can view.

Metadata for Category and Metric Visibility is available in two separate lists:

• Categorical
• Metric

Permissions are stackable. So, for example, if "Bob" is in Usergroup A with visibility of fm_type and in Usergroup B with visibility of region and equipment_type, Bob will get visibility of all three dimensions/categories.

Admins are exempt from this permissions system.

The following four rules should be taken into consideration when managing user group permissions.

• If a list is empty, the users within that User group can see all the categories or all the metrics. That is to say, as seen below, you will notice that it reads No restrictions because there are, in fact, no restrictions on what categories or metrics the user can see.
  

• As soon as you add a new category or metric, even if it is just one category or metric, that is all the user will be able to see.

• The Metric and Categorical lists are independent from one another. For example, by restricting and enumerating all categorical data, you can have greater visibility and control without any restrictions on your metric data.

• If you have values selected in your session metadata whitelist, that category will automatically be visible along with your categorical visibility list.
