Viewing Collection Agent Configuration

  • PDF

Article summary

The Device Configuration tab of the Collection page gives you an overview of the data collection configuration for all elements managed by Legacy orchestrator.

The configuration is presented in a table with a row for each managed element. Highlighted cells provide a quick visual check on which elements are collecting data and which types of data they are collecting.

For a particular element, you can easily check:

  • If the Metrics Collection agent is enabled cell says true and cell background is highlighted, otherwise the cell will say false and the background is not highlighted (as shown below).
  • If data streaming to Legacy orchestrator is enabled cell says true and cell background
is highlighted, otherwise the cell will say false and the background is not highlighted (as shown below).
  • If a particular type of Agent data is being collected and streamed (cell displays the
collection period (example: 1 min) and the cell background is highlighted).

Interpreting the Device Configuration for All Elements

  1. Access the Collection ▶ Device Configuration tab.

  2. The list of managed elements is displayed with the current settings used for data collection on each element.

  3. Check for highlighted cells to see which elements are currently enabled for collecting (Agent state column) and streaming data (Streaming state column) and which elements are currently collecting or streaming a certain type of data (columns for different types of Agent data).

  4. If you want to access or change the settings for a particular element, double-click the element in the list. For more information, see "Configuring Collection Agent for Individual Devices"

Device Configuration

ParameterDescription
Device nameThe host name of the element. This value is set on the element. Legacy orchestrator obtains the value from the element.
LabelAn identifier for the element that is defined and used in Legacy orchestrator. You can edit this by selecting the element in the Managed Elements list.
SerialThe serial number of the element. This value is obtained from the element.
Agent stateEnables or disables the Metrics Collection agent on the element.
  • Enabled (true): Enables Metrics Collection agent. Performance data can be collected.
  • Disabled (false): Disables Metrics Collection agent on the element.
Streaming stateDetermines whether the Metrics Collection agent on the element is enabled for streaming agent data to Legacy orchestrator:
  • Enabled (true): The element is prepared to stream its agent data to Legacy orchestrator.
  • Disabled (false): The element will not stream its agent data to Legacy orchestrator.
Columns for different types of Metric Collection dataThese columns indicate how data collection/streaming is configured for each type of data, on each element.

These are values that can be set and what they mean:

  • off - Data will not be collected on the element.
  • collecting - Data will be collected on the element but will not be streamed to the Metrics Collection server (usually Legacy orchestrator). If required, the data can be sent to another server by FTP or another protocol. For more information, see the user manual for the element model.
  • streaming - Data will be collected on the element and streamed to the Metrics Collection server (usually Legacy orchestrator).
The following types of Metrics Collection data can be collected, streamed and exported:
  • PAA
  • Policy
  • Regulator
  • SOAM DMM
  • SOAM PL
  • SOAM SA
  • SOAM SA metric
  • SOAM SLM
  • flowmeter
  • TWAMP
  • Port
  • Shaper
  • SFP
  • System Health

Viewing the Status of a Metrics Collection Agent for One Element

To view the status of the Metrics Collection agent of an element
