For sections and cards in a Monitoring dashboard, you can override the currently-selected time interval by offsetting the interval by a specified number of steps or days back.
- Offset by steps: For example, 1 step back of a PT1H interval from 08:00-09:00 is 07:00-08:00
- Offset by days: For example, 1 day back of 08:00-09:00 Jan 20 is 08:00-09:00 Jan 19
A icon indicates that a time interval offset has been applied to the widget.
This feature can be helpful when you want to compare data against a specific period in the past relative to the current interval.
For example, this image shows two Timeseries widgets side-by-side; the left widget shows data for the current interval and the right widget shows data for 1 step back:
To offset the current time interval:
- While authoring a card in a Monitoring dashboard, click Add time interval offset.
- Specify the number of steps or days back from the configuring the applicable field.
- Offset by steps
- Offset by days
