Setting Up a Loopback Configuration Job
Layer 1 to 4 loopbacks (MAC address, IP address and port swap frame reflection) enable remote QoS testing of Ethernet, IP and triple-play services.
You can set up a configuration job to set up loopbacks on Skylight modules.
To configure a Loopback configuration job
Access the page Commission ▶ Jobs.
Set all common configuration job settings, as described in "Creating Configuration Jobs in GUI Mode" and in "Creating Configuration Jobs Using Data Sets".
Select Loopbacks in the left pane. The Loopbacks tab is displayed.

Complete all fields in the Loopbacks tab as required. For more information on specific parameters, see the table below.
Use the Add button or Duplicate button to add loopback settings as required.
Note: When duplicating a row, always select the row to duplicate before clicking the Duplicate button.
Click Apply, then click Close.
Click the Refresh button to refresh the user interface.

Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Enable | Use this checkbox to enable or disable the loopback. |
Loopback name | Name of the loopback instance. |
Port | The port on the remote device to which the loopback operation applies. Available options:

Loopback type | Type determines how the loopback is defined. Available options:

Custom loopback (complete this tab if you selected Custom as Type in General tab)
Parameter | Description |

Filter type | The type of filter to be applied to the loopback traffic:

Filter name | Name to identify the filter on the unit you are configuring. |
Swap MAC | Use this checkbox to enable this action: swap the source and destination MAC addresses. |
Swap IP | Use this checkbox to enable this action: swap the source and destination IP addresses. |
Swap TCP/UDP ports | Use this checkbox to enable this action: swap the source and destination TCP/UDP ports. |
Drop opposite | Check this box to enable dropping the traffic entering the device on the opposite port. If this option is disabled, opposite traffic will be restored five seconds after the loopback times out. |
JDSU (complete this tab if you selected JDSU as Type in General tab)
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
JDSU discovery | Use this checkbox to allow this loopback to accept JDSU/Acterna™ discovery loopback commands. |
JDSU loopback timeout period | The timeout period after the Loop Up command has been received before initiating the JDSU loopback tests. |
