You can add topology information to a session to correlate performance across other reporting sessions and locate the source of degradations more quickly. Topology is kept at an abstract level to support a provisioning model that is not tied to a specific OSI layer. Use the model that fits your environment and that you can maintain accurately.
Using Topology
Based on the provisioned topology and the metrics selected in the Performance tab, Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance (formerly Skylight performance analytics) presents a table that aggregates performance across all sessions associated with each topology element. The table also shows the number of sessions per element to indicate sample size. Use this view to quickly identify a misbehaving element and understand its impact.

Drill Down Using Topology
Click an element to open an analysis session where you can explore the element’s performance and impact in detail.

Modify Topology
You can update topology via the UI or API.
Update Topology via UI
Choose Inventory > Sessions > Topology.

Update Topology via API
Topology is treated as metadata and can be updated through monitored object operations, such as:

Note: Upload topology as a string with commas separating elements.
