For the Table, Timeseries, and Crosstab widgets, you can use bins to segment measurements before aggregation is applied. Each bin is represented by a color that conforms to a condition. You can color bins, for example, to reflect good and bad ranges.
A bin can be linked to a predefined threshold profile or defined based on your preferred segment measurement.
To set up pre-aggregate bins:
-
In Monitoring, open the dashboard that contains the widget you want to set up bins for.
-
Click Author in the top-right to enter authoring mode.
-
Click the card you want to edit. The Card detail sidebar opens on the right.
-
In Data, click Set up bins for the metric you want to set up bins for. The <metric name> dialog opens.
-
Select the binning method:
- Profile: Link a pre-aggregate profile. More information: Threshold Profiles
- Segment measurements by value: Count the record if its value crosses a fixed value
- Segment measurements by value from baseline: Count the record if its value crosses a baseline plus or minus a value (for example, 20 ms over baseline)
- Segment measurements by % from baseline: Count the record if its value crosses a baseline plus or minus a percentage (for example, 10% over baseline)
-
Configure the parameters.
- For Profile, select the profile from the dropdown list.
- For Segment measurements by ..., click Add bin + , and then set the parameters under Value and Shown as to define the condition and bin color. Repeat this step as needed.
-
Click ✓ on the upper right to save and apply the changes.
Once you have set up bins, you can hover on the widget and drill down to bring bins into analysis as a filter.
