Setting Up a Session Reflector Configuration Job

  • PDF

Article summary

A Provider Connectivity Assurance Sensor Control can function as a reflector for various types of performance measurement sessions:

  • 2xOneWay - IPv4 (encapsulation types: GRE, ICMP, RTP, SCTP, UDP, TCP)
  • Echo - IPv4 and IPv6 (encapsulation types: ICMP, UDP)
  • Ethernet - OAM (variations: Eth-DM, Eth-LB, Eth-VS)
  • TWAMP (only stateful TWAMP [not stateless]; variations: IPv4, IPv6).

This job also allows you to configure the sensor: control to reflect "scan" messages from the Legacy orchestrator Manager Module. This means Legacy orchestrator will be able to discover the Assurance Sensor Control.

You can set up a configuration job to enable the reflection capabilities of the Assurance Sensor Control for various types of sessions and encapsulation. For certain combinations, you must also set the port to be used for reflection.

To set up a Session Reflector configuration job

  1. Access the page Commission ▶ Jobs.

  2. Set all common configuration job settings, as described in "Creating Configuration Jobs in GUI Mode" and "Creating Configuration Jobs Using Data Sets". If you check ME reference data set enabled checkbox, see the table Session Reflector tab - Dataset section below for information about the fields.

  3. Select Session Reflector in the left pane. The Session Reflector tab is displayed.

  4. Complete the fields as explained in the table below this procedure.

  5. Click Apply, then click Close.

  6. Click the Refresh REFRESH BUTTON.png button to refresh the user interface.

2xOneWay - IPv4

ParameterDescription
GREEnable or disable reflection of 2xOneWay sessions using GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation).
ICMPEnable or disable reflection of 2xOneWay sessions using ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) encapsulation.
RTPEnable or disable reflection of 2xOneWay sessions using RTP (Real- time Transport Protocol) encapsulation.
RTP PortEnter a value (from 1 to 65,535) for the RTP port.
SCTPEnable or disable reflection of 2xOneWay sessions using SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) encapsulation.
SCTP PortEnter a value (from 1 to 65,535) for the SCTP port.
TCPEnable or disable reflection of 2xOneWay sessions using TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) encapsulation.
TCP PortEnter a value (from 1 to 65,535) for the TCP port.
UDPEnable or disable reflection of 2xOneWay sessions using UDP (User Datagram Protocol) encapsulation.
UDP PortEnter a value (1 to 65,535) for the UDP port.

Echo - UDP

ParameterDescription
UDP - IPv4Select True or False.
IPv4 UDP PortEnter a value (1 to 65535) for the UDP port.
UDP - IPv6Select True or False.
IPv6 UDP PortEnter a value (1 to 65535) for the UDP port.

Echo - ICMP

ParameterDescription
IPV4Select True or False.
IPV6Select True or False.

Eth OAM

ParameterDescription
Eth DMEnable or disable reflection of Ethernet DM (Frame Delay Measurement) sessions.
Eth LBEnable or disable reflection of Ethernet LB (Loopback) sessions.
Eth VSEnable or disable reflection of Ethernet VS (Vendor Specific) sessions. Specifically, this applies to Accedian 2xOneway session implemented as an Eth-VS. This enhanced bidirectional session (for L2 networks) measures and reports all metrics (delay, jitter, loss, and so on) based on one-way measurements.
MEG levelThe MEG level of the Maintenance Point Possible values: all, 0-7.
Enable MEG levelA pull-down menu to enable MEG level. Possible values: True or False.
InterfaceIndicates that the Management interface is used in the Session Reflector instance.

Scan

ParameterDescription
EnabledEnable or disable reflection of discovery scan messages sent by the Legacy orchestrator Manager Module. If scan reflection is enabled, Legacy orchestrator will be able to discover the sensor: control.
IPv4 UDP PortEnter a value (1 to 65535) for the UDP port.

TWAMP

ParameterDescription
IPv4Enable or disable reflection of TWAMP sessions using IPv4 addressing.
IPv4 PortEnter a value (1 to 65,535) for the IPv4 port.
IPv4 Port 2Enter a value (1 to 65,535) for the IPv4 port 2.
IPv6Enable or disable reflection of TWAMP sessions using IPv6 addressing.
IPv6 PortEnter a value (1 to 65,535) for the IPv6 port.
IPv6 Port 2Enter a value (1 to 65,535) for the IPv6 port 2.
