This article provides two examples of how to set up and execute configuration flows:
- "Simple Example: SNMP Agent Flow"
- "Two Template Example: PAA Flow"
Simple Example: SNMP Agent Flow
The configuration flow for the SNMP Agent step is simple. It requires one template that sets up one configuration step: the SNMP step. In this example, the system administrator sets up the configuration flow so that operators must enter values for two parameters in the executor: the hostname and location fields when they execute the configuration flow. All other parameters are set to standard values.
System administrator sets up the configuration flow
The system administrator creates a template in the Job Configuration page (Commission ► Jobs).
The system administrator creates a profile in the Flow Profiles page (Commission ►
Flow Profiles). The profile includes the template for the SNMP agent.
Operator sets up an executor for the configuration flow and runs it
An operator creates a configuration flow executor in the flow executors page (Commission ► Flow Executors).
Operator completes general information and selects SNMP Agent profile.
Operator selects device in Device Selection tab.
Operator enters values for the parameters on the selected device.
Operator applies and closes the executor.
Operator runs the executor to configure the SNMP Agent on the selected device.
Operator selects the executor and views the status of the SNMP configuration just performed on the selected device.
Two Template Example: PAA Flow
This configuration flow example sets up a PAA session between a Skylight element and its aggregator. This flow requires two templates, two tokens, and one profile.
System administrator sets up two templates and one profile
The system administrator sets up the configuration flow by creating two templates with two different tokens (one for each Skylight element that is an endpoint in the PAA session) and one profile as follows:
- The system administrator accesses (Commission ► Jobs) and creates two templates (one for Node A and one for Node B).
Repeat same steps creating a template for Node B, withjob name PAA-Node B template, Token Node B and L2 Port Name ${NodeBport}.
2. The system administrator creates a profile in the Configuration flow profile page that includes both templates.
Operator creates a flow executor for the PAA flow and runs it
After the system administrator has set up the PAA profile, an operator creates an executor by completing the three tabs of the Configuration flow executor dialog.
The operator accesses the flow executor page (Commission ► Flow Executors).
The operator completes general information and selects the PAA profile and clicks Ok.
In the Device selection tab, the operator drags one Skylight element into the Node A group and another Skylight element into the Node B group.
The operator enters values for the parameters on the selected Skylight element.
The operator applies and closes executor.
The operator runs the executor to perform the configuration.
When configuration is complete, the operator selects the executor and views the status.
