You can use a Port configuration job to configure the parameters for physical ports on
devices.
To set up a Ports Job
Access the page Commission ▶ Jobs.
Set all common configuration job settings, as described in "Creating Configuration Jobs
in GUI Mode" and in "Creating Configuration Jobs Using Data Sets".Select Ports in the left pane. The Ports tab is displayed.
Complete all fields in the Ports tab as required. For more information on specific parameters, see the table below.
Use the Add button or Duplicate button to add Ports settings as required.
Note: When duplicating a row, always select the row to duplicate before clicking the Duplicate button.
Click Apply, then click Close.
Click the Refresh button to refresh the user interface.

Port general
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Enable | The port may be either enabled or disabled. |
Port name | The name of the port. |
Alias | The port's assigned alias name as specified by a network manager. |
Port MTU | The maximum transmission unit that a port can receive and forward, including all headers; expressed in bytes. |
Large Packet Threshold | Packets above this threshold will be classified as Large Packets. The Large Packets count can be viewed on the Port ▶ Statistics page. |

MDI | Auto MDI means that the unit automatically adapts the configuration of the connector to the cabling plant and type of link partner. If Auto MDI is not in use, you can manually define port settings as follows:

Link speed
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Auto-negotiation | Sets the port speed and duplex type. Auto-negotiation: The unit automatically negotiates port speed and duplex type with the device to which it is connected. For auto-negotiation to be successful, the other device must also be set up for auto-negotiation. |
Rate | On other devices, if auto-negotiation is not in use, you can manually define the port speed:

LLDP
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Enable | Enable or disable LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) frame transmission on the port. |
Rate | The LLDP frame transmission rate on the port, expressed in seconds. Range: 1–3,600 |
Protection
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Enable | Enable protection for this port. The protecting port is reserved by the protection mechanism and cannot be used for monitoring purposes as long as the protection is enabled. |
Mode | Switching protection to a standby port can be based on link status, LACP status or ERP status. If you select LACP status, you must create an L2PT rule with an operation mode of Peer and protocol LACP on this port in order to terminate LACP frames. |
Working connector name | The working connector for the specified port. Choosing the connector when enabling the protection allows you to perform a switchover operation. In revertive mode, when both ports are working, the traffic reverts to the working connector. |
Revertive | When enabled, the traffic is switched back to the main port after the reversion period has expired. |
Revertive period | The time, expressed in seconds, that the system must continuously detect a valid signal on the main port in order to switch back to this port. Note: The timer is restarted if a signal loss is detected during this period. |
Link timeout | The time, expressed in seconds, for the protection link to come up after switching to the protection connector when the protection link is down. Note: If the timer (link timeout) expires and the link remains down, the system reverts to the working connector. |
Fault propagation
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Use fault propagation on port | This checkbox is used to determine whether Fault propagation state (the next parameter) should be set. |
Fault propagation state | This checkbox enables or disables the propagation of link faults (or LACP status) between the ports specified in the Propagate from port field. Note: The setting of this checkbox (to enable or disable fault propagation) will only be used if the Use fault propagation checkbox (the previous parameter) is checked. |

Link Loss Return
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Enable | This option determines how the unit notifies its link partner when a valid receive signal is absent on the link. If LLR is disabled, then:
Entering a value of 0 puts the laser into a disabled state waiting for the opposite side to send a light pulse to re- establish the link. Consequently, a value of 0 should not be configured on both sides, otherwise the link will never be re-established. |
Period | If LLR is enabled, the unit turns off its transmitter for the amount of time defined in this field, after which it is re- enabled. |
Media selection
Parameter | Description |

Media selection mode | Selection mode for dual-media ports. Possible values: Automatic or Manual |
Preferred connector | Preferred media in automatic mode. Selected media in manual mode. Possible values: RJ45 or SFP For detailed information about how to set these parameters, see the user guide or online help for the model of device that you intend to configure. |
Physical
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Advertisement | Defines the list of speeds and duplex modes that the port will advertise to its peer (link partner). Click in the field and select an option. |
Update advertisement | Check this field to have the device update its advertisement when it receives the change. |
