Licensing Schema

Overview

The License is used to enable the various features available in the system. It is designed with the intention that a customer can simply upload a new license to enable new functionality in the system they have already installed.

Individual features may have expiration dates sooner than the overall license’s expiration to allow for trial periods.

The process of generating licenses is depicted in the following sequence diagram.

License Sequence Diagram

Cisco first delivers the software installers to the customer. The System Administrator for the customer installs the Management System. The Management system generates and displays a Hardware ID, which identifies the hardware that the Management system is installed on.

A License request is then sent to Cisco using the Management system Hardware ID. Cisco delivers a digitally signed License which is then installed through the Management system. This license enables the full capability of the Management system software and includes the feature(s) licenses associated with this deployment. As new Traffic processor features become available, a customer can purchase the new functionality and a new License will be issued to unlock these features.

Finally, new Traffic processor(s) are configured and the Management system is then used to install their software onto that server(s). At this point, the site license is delivered to the instances and the software is fully enabled to operate within the licensed features specified in the site license file.

If the Management system hardware is migrated to a different server, then a new License should be requested from Cisco and installed in the new Management server hardware.

Licensed capacity is based on total number of cell site sectors or User IPs monitored in the system

Features and Feature Sets

Features are different functions of the system, and may be either plainly enabled or, for fixed-term trials, have an individual expiration timestamp. They are grouped into Feature Sets for organization and apply the same capacity limit to all enabled features.

Licensable Features

The solution currently offers three different features / use-cases supported by these licenses.

Network Intelligence (SKY-ADV-UE-NI)

Description: Network Intelligence provides actionable data to increase efficiency, enhance user speeds, and optimize network configuration, planning and automation. License quantifier: One license per cell site sector OR One license per 50 User IP addresses monitored

Network Flow Optimization (SKY-ADV-UE-NO)

Description: Optimizes the entire network by microshifting delivery of heavy data flows away from moments where other traffic is contending for resources, and into moments where capacity exists, assuring optimal experiences for all users. License quantifier: One license per cell site sector OR One license per 50 User IP addresses monitored

Energy Reduction Insights and Control (SKY-ADV-UE-ER)

Description: Monitors actual customer demand in real-time and tunes the energy curve to match actual user needs around the clock. Delivers massive energy savings by using real-time CX metrics to control spectrum energization with existing hardware. License quantifier: One license per cell site sector OR One license per 50 User IP addresses monitored
