You can view Skylight orchestrator's inventory of devices and Skylight modules in these four pages:
- Managed Elements: Displays a list of the devices that Skylight orchestrator is actively managing and can log into automatically.
- Unmanaged Elements: Displays a list of devices that Skylight orchestrator is aware of but is not currently managing.
- Managed Modules and SFPs: Displays a list of Skylight sensor: modules that are in the inventory of certain managed Skylight sensor: controls, and have been loaded into Skylight orchestrator. Skylight modules, connected to a Skylight sensor: control, are Skylight sensor: module and Skylight sensor: SFP compute.
- Unmanaged Modules and SFPs: Displays a list of modules that Skylight orchestrator is aware of but not currently managing.
Viewing the List and Dashboard of Managed Elements
This section explains the information that is displayed for each device in the Managed Elements list.
Managed Elements page (Devices ▶ Managed Elements)
To view the list and dashboard of Managed Elements
To access the list of managed elements, select Devices ▶ Managed Elements. A list of all managed elements is displayed. A dashboard is displayed on the bottom of the page, providing you with a high-level statistical view of the managed elements.
To toggle the dashboard on or off, click above the list.To interpret the information displayed for the devices in each of the columns, see the table "Information displayed in the Managed Elements list (Devices ▶ Managed Elements)". Some of the columns described in the table may not appear in the Managed Elements list on-screen.
To interpret the information displayed for devices in the dashboard, see "Managed Elements Dashboard".
To display or remove columns from the Managed Elements list:
- Right-click anywhere in the headings at the top of the columns. A context menu is displayed.
- Slide the cursor down the menu to Columns to view the full list of columns that can be displayed.
- Check any columns you want to view. Uncheck any columns that you do not want to view.
To view the configuration of a device in the Managed Elements list
Double-click anywhere in the row for the element (except its IP address, which is a link to the user interface of the element).
To access the user interface of a device from Managed Elements list
Click the IP address in the row for the device (which is a link). You will be able to log in to the device.
Information displayed in the Managed Elements list (Devices ▶ Managed Elements)
Name:
The host name of the device. This value is set on the device. Skylight orchestrator obtains the value from the device.
Label:
An identifier for the device that is defined and used in Skylight orchestrator. You can edit this by selecting the device in the Managed Elements list.
Serial number:
The serial number of the network device. This value is obtained from the device.
IP:
The IP address of the device. This is a link that you can click to access the user interface of the device.
Typically, the user interface opens on the login page. The appropriate credential for this device should be displayed automatically in the user ID and password fields
Version:
Version of device firmware. This value is obtained from the device.
Hardware:
Information about hardware components obtained from the device.
Note: This column is not displayed by default.
Model:
Model of the device. This value is obtained from the device.
Inventory source:
The serial number of the inventory tracking device that discovered this device.
Only available for devices (configured for Plug & Go) that were discovered by an inventory tracker.
Note: This column is not displayed by default.
Source type:
Indicates how this device was added to the Skylight orchestrator inventory.
Possible values:
- Manual: The device was manually added to the Managed Elements: list.
- Plugngo: The device was configured for Plug & Go and was discovered and added to the Managed Elements list automatically.
Note: This column is not displayed by default.
Inventory polling:
Indicates whether or not Skylight orchestrator will poll this device periodically for its inventory.
Possible values:
- Checked (enabled): Skylight orchestrator will automatically poll this device for new Skylight devices that it has discovered.
- Unchecked: Skylight orchestrator will not poll this device for new Skylight devices that it has detected.
Note: This column is not displayed by default.
Operational state:
Indicates whether Skylight orchestrator has established connectivity with the device.
Possible values:
- In Service: Skylight orchestrator has established connectivity with the device.
- Out of Service: Skylight orchestrator has lost connectivity with the device.
Resync state:
Possible values:
- In Progress: Data is currently being retrieved.
- Idle: No activity.
Last update:
Timestamp of the last synchronization of the device with the Skylight orchestrator server.
Date added:
Timestamp of the date that the managed element was added.
Note: This column is not displayed by default.
Last management state change:
Timestamp of the last change to the managed element state.
Note: This column is not displayed by default.
Managed Elements Dashboard
The alarm dashboard gives you a high-level statistical view of managed elements. The dashboard is displayed on the bottom of the Managed Elements page, and provides you with the following statistics:
Note: Text summaries have replaced pie charts as of Skylight orchestrator 23.12.
Operational state:
Displays the breakdown of operational states, in percentages.
The operational states are:
- In Service
- Out of Service
Firmware:
Displays the breakdown of devices’ firmware versions, in percentages.
Model:
Displays the breakdown of devices’ models, in percentages.
Last update:
Displays the breakdown for devices’ timestamp of thier last synchro-nization with the Skylight orchestrator server, in percentages.
Viewing the List of Unmanaged Elements
This section explains the information that is displayed for each device in the Unmanaged Elements list.
To view the list of Unmanaged Elements
To access the list of unmanaged elements, select Devices ▶ Unmanaged Elements.
To interpret the information displayed for the various devices in each of the columns, see the table "Information in the Unmanaged page (Devices ▶ Unmanaged Elements)". Some columns described in the table may not appear in the Unmanaged Elements list on-screen.
