The subsequent articles describe the IEEE 802.1ag “Service OAM” function and how to set it up on your Metro Ethernet Network to perform end-to-end monitoring.
Service OAM (or CFM Connectivity Fault Management) encompasses fault management and performance management capabilities of the Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance Sensor Control.
Note: The Sensor Control’s implementation of Service OAM is primarily focused on reflecting loopback message frames and delay measurements.
Note: The port status may become yellow under these circumstances:
- EVC-FP (Ethernet Virtual Connection Fault Propagation)
- ETH-CSF (Ethernet Client Signal Failure)
- LLF-FP (Link Loss Forwarding Fault Propagation)
The following figure shows an overview of Service OAM.
