These procedures guide you through the database import, upgrade and rebalancing process that are to
be executed on the target installation virtual machines.
Stopping the Application
If running, it is best to stop the application on the target installation while doing the rehoming
procedure. The procedure to stop the application is different for hot standby setups.
Note: If you are rehoming a redundant configuration, these steps must be run on the active site.
If you are operating in a Hot Standby configuration
Open an SSH terminal session to the Skylight orchestrator on port 2200.
Log in as the visionems user.
Stop the Hot Standby process by entering: redundancy control stop
Start the database by entering: service start mysql
Otherwise
Open an SSH terminal session to the Skylight orchestrator on port 2200.
Log in as the visionems user.
Stop the application by entering: service stop app_server
Importing the Database
- Open an SSH terminal session to Skylight orchestrator on port 22.
Note: If you are rehoming a redundant configuration, log into the target installation virtual machine you have designated to be the preferred active site.
Log in as the visionems user.
Change to the scripts directory by entering: cd /opt/accedian/skylight/scripts
Import the data store by entering: ./ems_restoredb_mysql.sh /data/backups/rehoming.tar.gz
When prompted to continue, enter: y
Upgrading the Database and Reapplying the Profile
These procedures explain how to upgrade the database. Once the database has been upgraded, you must reapply the profile.
To upgrade the database
- Open an SSH terminal session to port 22 of the virtual machine.
Note: If you are rehoming a redundant configuration, log into the target installation virtual machine you have designated to be the preferred active site.
Log in as the visionems user. cd /opt/accedian/skylight/tools/skylight-dbtool
Launch the database upgrade by entering: ./dbtool.sh -u -n root -t localhost -b visiondata
When prompted to continue, enter: y
To reapply the profile
Open an SSH terminal session to the Skylight orchestrator designated as the preferred active site on port 2200.
Log in as the visionems user.
Reapply the profile, by entering: deployment edit type single-node profile < profile name >
Note: If you are rehoming a clustered configuration from version 19.12 or a single node multiple instances from version 20.02, you must reapply the profile.
Starting the Application
This procedure starts the hot standby process, and also starts the application. At this point, the application on the target installation will take over management of the network elements.
If you are operating in a Hot Standby configuration
Open an SSH terminal session to the Skylight orchestrator designated as the preferred active site on port 2200.
Log in as the visionems user.
Start the Hot Standby process by entering: redundancy control start
Otherwise
Open an SSH terminal session to the Skylight orchestrator on port 2200.
Log in as the visionems user.
Start the application by entering: service start app_server
