New Features

Skylight Flex 100 release 22.01.5 introduces the following new features and enhancements.

Zero Touch Provisioning Enhancements

Zero Touch Provisioning beacon support in QinQ scenario has been added to Skylight Flex 100. When receiving the beacon, the beacon has two VLAN tags; these tags are used to create the management interface.

Supported dual VLAN permutations include:

  • Outer VLAN S-VLAN Inner VLAN C-VLAN
  • Outer VLAN C-VLAN Inner VLAN C-VLAN
  • Outer VLAN S-VLAN Inner VLAN S-VLAN
  • Outer VLAN C-VLAN Inner VLAN S-VLAN

Furthermore, you can change the ZTP auto interface to a ZTP static interface via in-band management.

Maximum Transmission Unit Enhancement

The system will not have dependencies to shutting down ports in order to apply maximum transmission unit (MTU) modifications.

The dependency of port shutdown for other parameters, except MTU size, persists.

Note: Interface admin status must be disabled to configure or update parameters for the following interface configurations:

flowcontrol {on | off} - Enables / Disables 802.3x flow control functionality.
speed {10 | 100 | 1000 | 2500 | 10000 | 25000 | 40000 | 50000 | 100000 | auto | nonegotiate} - Sets the speed settings.
802.3 ap advertisement - Enables 802.3ap Backplane protocol for link training on the interface.

Link Layer Discovery Protocol Enabled by Default

As of release 22.01.5, Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is enabled by default on all Skylight Flex 100 interfaces.

Note: LLDP can be disabled if needed but will be enabled following a factory reset.

SAT Y.1564 Layer 2 Standard Frame Format Support

Release 22.01.5 provides support for Y.1564 Layer 2 standard frame format.

L2CP Frame Transparency and Passthrough Support

Support for L2CP transparency mode and passthrough is configurable on per protocol basis.

When enabling or disabling L2CP transparency, the following L2 control protocol sets share the same destination MAC and therefore have matching configurations.

  • GMRP, MMRP (01:80:C2:00:00:20)
  • GVRP, MVRP (01:80:c2:00:00:21)
  • LACP, EOAM (01:80:c2:00:00:02)

For example, when GMRP protocol is configured for L2CP transparency, the MMRP protocol will also be set to L2CP transparency mode, even if explicit configuration for MMRP protocol is not made.

CLI Commands

Release 22.01.5 of Skylight Flex 100 adds additional CLI command support.

  • l2protocol-passthrough: Sets the option to passthrough L2 protocol packets transparently received on port.
  • set sat test-frame-format: Configures the test frame format type for SAT sessions.

Operational Considerations

This section documents the operational considerations related to Skylight Flex 100 release 22.01.5.

Access Control List Considerations

The order of operation/matching of ACL rules is based on the order of the ACL configuration; a separate field/configuration to specify priority of the ACL is not supported.

ACLs associated with the port, when requiring modification, will have to be deleted and reconfigured with updated field value.

Addressed Issues

This section lists issues corrected in Skylight Flex 100 release 22.01.5.

ZTP changes not saving
When implementing the ZTP process by getting an IP for the created VLAN interface from the DHCP server and changing its mode from DHCP to static by assigning the same IP, the VLAN interface configuration, including its directly connected route, is lost after save and reload.

This issue has been fixed.

Hyphen and dash characters not supported in CFM ICC name
Unable to use hyphen or dash character in ICC name when creating CFM.

This issue has been fixed.

CFM SLM alarm not cleared
Although frame loss does not occur, CFM SLM alarm is still being raised.

This issue has been fixed.

Vulnerability scan
Recent vulnerability issues have been fixed.

  • Remove weak Cipher
  • Password management hardening

Note: For fix relating to SSH server vulnerability issue, the parameters -o KexAlgorithms=diffie-hellman-group14-sha1 must be added to SSH client.
This is required following the initial upgrade to version 22.01.5 or the first connection after a factory reset.
Full command line: ssh -o KexAlgorithms=diffie-hellman-group14-sha1 root@< Flex IP address >

Downloading firmware causing issues with SNMP
When you perform an “archive download-sw /overwrite […]”, SNMP loses communication until the download stops.

This issue has been fixed.

If auxiliary (extreme/gigabit) negotiation is OFF, 1G Port stops working
1G SFP port is not operational when auto-negotiation is disabled. Auto-negotiation must remain enabled and value must not be modified.

This issue has been fixed.

DMM minimum values go to 0 for one minute
CFM DMM minimum values for telemetry statistics go to 0 for the first 60 seconds.

This issue has been fixed.

Y1564 test producing packet loss

Y.1564 test with certain EMIX pattern producing packet loss; no losses with fixed packet size.

This issue has been fixed.

L2 protocols passing transparent
L2 protocols reaching a port do not pass transparent to the other device.

This issue has been fixed.

Lost access when changing MTU size on 100 Gb port
Access is lost (in-band management) when changing MTU size on 100 Gb port.

This issue has been fixed.

Support ZTP for OLO device with dual VLAN
Skylight Flex 100 does not support ZTP for OLO devices with dual VLAN.

This issue has been fixed.

L2 protocols not passing using CVLAN
L2CP protocol cannot be tunneled when using C-VLAN. It works properly when using S-VLAN.
This issue has been fixed.

MTU change on in-band management
When managing Skylight Flex 100 using in-band management, and the MTU must be changed, Interface must first be administratively down (disabled) before setting MTU; this is causing management to be lost.

This issue has been fixed.

Default SSH password: "admin" not updating
Default SSH admin password admin cannot be updated.

This issue has been fixed.

Note: Upon bring-up of the board, use the following configuration to set the admin password:

# configure terminal
(config)# admin username admin password <CLIENT-PASSWORD>

Output bitrate exceeding the CIR+EIR boundary
Concerning MEF10.2 Bandwidth Policer, output bitrate exceeds the CIR+EIR boundary for traffic rates less than 100 Kbps.

This issue has been fixed.
