Setting Up the Secondary Appliance for Standby Operations
The secondary appliance must be prepared in advance for standby operations.
Procedure Requirements
A. Certain procedures in this section require access to the secondary Legacy orchestrator appliance through its web user interface. Other procedures require accessing the appliance through its console interface.
B. Access to the console requires the user to log in as the visionems user. To execute this procedure, you must know the account’s credentials.
Procedure Steps
Log in to Legacy orchestrator (web interface) on the secondary appliance:
http://serverIPaddress:6080/businesswebSelect the logo in the upper left corner of the page and check if the version of Legacy orchestrator is exactly the same as the version on the primary appliance.
If the Legacy orchestrator versions do not match, update the secondary appliance so that its version of Legacy orchestrator is exactly the same as the version on the primary appliance.
Stop Legacy orchestrator on the secondary appliance as follows:
- Using the console, log on as the visionems user on the secondary appliance.
- Enter: service stop app_server
- Enter the following commands to set up a cron job that will periodically delete old backup files from the secondary appliance:
- At the prompt, enter: shell
You are brought to the appliance’s OS-level shell. - Enter the user ID and password for the visionems user.
- Enter: echo "0 0 * * * find /data/backups/* -mtime +7 -exec rm {} ;" | crontab
- Enter: exit (2 times) to close the terminal session.
The secondary appliance and the primary appliance now have the same version of Legacy orchestrator software. Note that Legacy orchestrator software is not running on the secondary appliance at this point.
