Flowmeter is a high frequency bandwidth utilization meter that is available on the following Accedian products:
- Skylight element: FSX
- Skylight element: FS 1G
- Skylight element: FS 10G
- Skylight sensor: control
The Flow configuration step can be used to set up flowmeters on all of these products.
Here are some points that you should be aware of when setting up a configuration step for flowmeter on a Skylight sensor: control:
- A flowmeter is called a port rule. A flowmeter instance is considered a rule and is associated with a port connected to a remote device (Skylight sensor: module or Skylight sensor: SFP compute module).
- Four flowmeters (port rules) can be associated with a port receiving incoming traffic.
- A flowmeter does not have a name. Since a flowmeter is a rule associated with a port, its unique identifier is a port rule number (a value from 1 to 4).
Here are some points that you should be aware of when setting up a configuration step for flowmeter on FS and FSX Skylight elements:
- A flowmeter instance is called a "flow".
- Flow name is the unique identifier for a flow.
- Multiple flows can be associated with a port receiving incoming traffic.
- A metering action can be applied to a flow.

Flow configuration
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Enable | Use this checkbox to enable or disable the flowmeter instance. |
Flow name | This parameter is only used on the FSX Skylight element. On the FSX, a flowmeter instance is called a flow. The Flow name is the unique identifier for a flow on the FSX. Enter a name that contains a maximum of 31 alphanumeric characters. Note: If the FSX will include both Layer-2 and IPv4 (Layer-3) filters, it is recommended that flow name includes a prefix that indicates the type of filter it uses. |
Filter type | Select the type of filter to be applied to incoming streams:
|
Filter name | Enter the name of a filter that exists on the system on which flowmeter is being configured. |
Port | The name that identifies the port. |
Port name | Enter the name of a port that exists on the system on which flowmeter is being configured. |
Port rule | This parameter is only used on the Skylight sensor: control. The port rule number is the unique identifier for a flowmeter on the Skylight sensor: control. Enter the number of a port rule that exists on the sensor: control on which flowmeter is being configured. Valid values: 1 to 4 |
Metering action | This parameter is only used on the FSX Skylight element. Select the metering action applied to incoming streams that match the specified filter. Possible values:
