Resetting the Unit to Factory Default Settings
You can reset the unit to its factory default settings either by using the RST button on the panel of the unit or by using the CLI. Each way is described below.
CAUTION: Resetting to factory default settings affects current operations.
To reset the unit to factory default settings via CLI
- Enter the Global Configuration mode.
your product# configure terminal
- Execute the command factory reset followed by reload to erase the configuration listed in the startup-config and the management interface configuration.
your product(config)# factory reset
end
reload
Note: Prior to release 22.01.4, the factory reset command does not erase the management interface configuration, hostname, or user details.
For earlier releases, manually reset the management interface configuration to restore the IP configuration to default.
To reset the unit to factory default settings from the unit’s front panel
Press and hold the RST button on the front panel.
Keep holding the RST button for:
- Less than 5 seconds to reload (reboot) the unit
- More than 5 seconds to reset the unit to factory defaults
- More than 25 seconds to reload the unit into TFTP booting mode
- Release the RST button.
