Replace a Sensor SFP or Sensor Module

Prev Next

This article explains how to replace a failed Sensor SFP or Sensor Module that is sending or reflecting live TWAMP measurement sessions.

Excluded from the Process

IP configuration of a new module based on discovery methods used (for example, IP agnostic mode where IP address of network device is used as discovery target, or IP config pre-staging using Module Dock.)
For more information, see Discovering Remote Devices.

To replace the device:

  1. In the Legacy Orchestrator, stop all sessions where the Sender interface(s) VCEs are associated with the failed Sensor SFP or Sensor Module device.

  2. Physically remove the failed device and replace it with new one.

  3. In the Sensor Control Management Web Interface, get the MAC address (Base MAC) of the new device.
Choose Discovery > Inventory, then click the device serial number.
CAUTION: Do not add the discovered new device into the Remote Devices list.

  7. Delete the VCE using Delete button at bottom of VCE configuration page.

  8. Recreate the VCE using the same VCE Name and Remote Device Name recorded in Step 6.

  9. Click Apply

  10. In the Legacy Orchestrator Management Web Interface, manually resync Sensor Control. Choose Devices > Managed Elements, select the appropriate Sensor Control (SC), and click Resync.
Once resync is complete, restart all sessions that were stopped in step 1.
