Article summary

Here is an overview of how to set up and execute a configuration job:

  1. If you want to set up the job in dataset mode, import the datasets in Skylight orchestrator. For detailed procedures, see "Importing and Editing Datasets".
  2. If you want to use a CLI set, import the CLI set in Skylight orchestrator. For detailed procedures, see "Importing a CLI Set".
  3. Set up the job to be performed. A job can consist of one or more configuration steps (tasks). For details about a particular configuration step, you can locate the section about that step in "Configuration Jobs".

The parameters and values supported for each configuration step (for example, Policies) vary depending on the device type (such as GT, GX, LX and LT Skylight elements). See the User Material for the particular model of the device to know which parameters apply to the device you are configuring.

  4. Set up and run a job executor. For detailed procedures, see "Executing Configuration Jobs".

If necessary, you can stop a job while it is running. See "Stopping a Configuration Job Executor".

You can also schedule a configuration job to be executed at a specific time or according to a schedule. See "Scheduling Configuration Jobs".

  5. Check whether the job was successful. For detailed procedures, see "Viewing the Status of a Configuration Job".
