NOTE: If this is an upgrade from a previous version or if the Traffic Processor and/or Control Traffic Processor are already fully configured, skip this entire Group Management section. Proceed directly to the next installation phase.

Create Server Groups

In the Management Server, all newly installed software will be added to a group called “DEFAULT-SERVER” for Traffic Processor and “DEFAULT-MPC” for MPC instances. This is a special group that is reserved for all newly installed instances and it can’t be used to upload software, configurations, or manage any instances. A user with the superadmin role needs to create new group to start managing instances.

To Create and Configure a new Server Group:

  1. Log in to the Management Server as a user with superadmin role.

  2. From the sidebar menu, select Platform and expand Servers, then select Groups.

  3. Under the Create New Group section, choose the desired instance type from the Select Instance Type list and click the Create button.

  4. On the Create New Instance Group window, provide a name for the group, and upload the software and configuration files that were included with your install package. Click Submit to create the group.

  5. Acknowledge the popup reminder to add instances to groups by clicking the Yes button.

Assign Software Instances to a Server Group

Assigned software instances (Traffic Processor and MPC) inherit the software version and configuration settings of the server groups they are assigned to.

To assign software instances to a server group:

  1. Log in to the Management Server as a user with the superadmin role.

  2. From the sidebar menu, choose Platform, expand Servers and select Groups.

  3. Locate the server group that you want to add a software instance to, and click the Add Instances button.

  4. On the Move Instances to Group window, locate the software instance you want to move in the panel on the left and check the box next to its name. After selecting all the Traffic Processors you want to move, click the > button to move them to the panel on the right.
