Backing Up Installations

Prev Next

If you are upgrading the Operating System, or deployed software, or starting a fresh installation, follow the steps below to make a backup of the necessary files. You can restore one or more of these backup files in the event of problems during an upgrade.

Management System

To perform a backup of application configuration:

cp /opt/opanga-services/conf/docker-application.properties application.properties.bk

Copy the application.properties.bk file from the server to a backup location.

Traffic Processor

Generally, traffic processor configurations are provided via arguments at install time and by the management system, and can freely be re‑installed.

Should configs need to be preserved for rollback purposes or to ensure no drift against the source‑of‑truth installer arguments, backup relevant environment‑specific config files by running the following command as root:

tar pcvf $(hostname)-traffic-processor-config-files.tar /opt/ncss/conf/* /home/ncss/.ssh

Copy the archive file from the traffic processor server to a backup location.

Control Traffic Processor

If the control traffic processor is installed these must be backed-up as well:

tar pcvf $(hostname)-traffic-processor-config-files.tar /opt/mpc/conf/* /home/ncss/.ssh

Copy the archive file from the control traffic processor server to a backup location.
