Managing Syslog Messages

The unit logs information related to system operations as Syslog Messages. You can view the syslog messages directly in the Web management interface or send the log to a remote location such as a workstation.
Defining Syslog Parameters
To configure Syslog parameters
Access the page System ▶Agent ▶Syslog.
A list of all syslog entries is displayed, with the most recent entry at the top.
You can update the log window with the most recent messages by clicking Refresh.Complete the required fields, then click Apply.

Syslog Configuration (System ▶Agent ▶Syslog)
Facility Configuration
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Device Facility | The device facility to log all messages using this user-defined facility instead of the default ones. |
Level Configuration
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Level Threshold | Configure the level threshold for syslog. All messages with a level greater than or equal to the selected one will be logged. For example, setting the priority threshold to DEBUG (lowest priority) causes all messages to be logged.

Remote Syslog Configuration
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Remote Syslog Enable | Check box to enable sending messages to a remote syslog server. When Remote Syslog is enabled, the following alarm is raised:Alarm ID: 8.0000.80 Severity: Major Service Affecting: No Description: Troubleshooting tool is running. Note: This alarm is raised when either a either a troubleshooting tool is running or the Remote Syslog feature is enabled. The alarm is cleared only when both (troubleshooting tool and Remote Syslog feature) are disabled. |
Host | The IP address or domain name of the remote syslog server. |

Sending Syslog Messages to a Remote Location
You can configure the unit to send Syslog messages to a Syslog server in a remote location.
To send Syslog messages to a remote server
Access the page System ▶Agent ▶Syslog.
Complete the required fields, then click Apply.
