For information on specific parameters, refer to the following section.

Remote Device Parameters (Remote Devices ▶ Configuration)

Feature Management

Remote Device Name: The name assigned to this remote device

Admin State: The remote device’s administrative state.
Available options are:

  • In Service (IS): The remote device is active
  • Out of Service (OOS): The remote device is inactive and ready to have its feature load updated

Update the remote device's Admin State if you need to change the current active feature load being used. You must set the administrative state to Out-of-Service before changing the feature load, then change it back to In-Service in order to return the device to active mode.

Switch Back to In-Service Delay: After SAT testing (RFC-2544 or a test suite) successfully completes, fails, times out or is stopped by the user, the system will automatically revert the remote device's administrative state to In-Service once the period of time indicated here has elapsed. Furthermore, the remote device's Active Feature will be switched to the feature that has been associated with the In-Service administrative state.

Acceptable values range from 1 to 600 seconds. Set to 0 seconds to disable the switch back mechanism.

In-Service Feature: The in-service feature associated with each remote device.
Available options are:

  • TGEN: Traffic generation (used to perform SAT tests)
  • PMON: Performance monitoring (used by all other features, including service OAM, traffic management and loopbacks)

Active Feature: The current feature load present on the remote device. Available options are:

  • TGEN: Traffic generation (used to perform SAT tests)
  • PMON: Performance monitoring (all other features, including service OAM, traffic management and loopbacks)
  • None: No load is detected

Note: Changing the active feature load running on a remote device impacts the traffic flowing through it.

Available Feature Suites: The current feature suite on the remote device and other available feature suites.

Indicates the state of the last firmware upgrade operation attempted on the remote device.

Feature Update Overview

Update Status: Indicates the state of the last firmware upgrade operation attempted on the remote device.
Valid values are:

  • Completed: The firmware upgrade has completed successfully
  • Idle: No action is required; the device's firmware is up to date
  • Fail: A failure occurred during the firmware upgrade
  • Erasing: Currently erasing a section of the device's flash
  • Downloading: Currently downloading the firmware onto the remote device
  • <progress % >: % of the firmware download actually completed
  • Activating: Currently enabling the newly-updated firmware
  • Cancelled: The firmware upgrade was cancelled by the user
  • Rebooting: The remote device is currently rebooting
  • Reboot fail: The remote device rebooting attempts has failed
  • Unsupported: The module cannot be updated with the chosen firmware suite or, the module's current firmware version is not supported or, the module's hardware is not supported.
  • Unsup. Device: The module is not supported. As an example, if a 1st generation module is added to the current version of Sensor Control.
  • ?: The remote device's update status is unknown.

Progress: If the Update Status value is Erasing, Downloading or Activating, the percentage completed is indicated here.

Cancel: Click this button to abort the current update operation; the active feature suite is unchanged.

Note: Canceling a feature update is not traffic affecting.
