Managing Feature Suites

  • PDF

Article summary

With the Skylight sensor: control, you can manage a number of distinct feature suites to be applied as needed to the remote devices under its control. Use this page to import and delete feature suites.

When remote devices are connected in a daisy chain topology and added to the Skylight sensor: control, the feature suite update process should be launched individually on each remote device in the chain (hop-by-hop), as opposed to updating all remote devices in the chain simultaneously. When a remote device has finished its update and changed its state to Completed, the next remote device in the daisy chain is ready to begin its update process. This approach ensures that no remote devices lose their connection to the Skylight sensor: control while a remote device in the chain with a lower hop count restarts to apply the new feature suite.

CAUTION: It is recommended to not update all remote devices connected in a daisy chain topology as a single operation. If all remote devices in a daily chain are updated simultaneously, every remote device in the chain will lose its connectivity to the Skylight sensor: control when a remote device with a lower hop count restarts; once they come back online, their state will be "Idle" and not "Completed". They will then reattempt to upgrade their feature suite because the previous attempt was unsuccessful due to the restart. In the case of a long daily chain, multiple failures will occur as each remote device restarts.
