The Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance Sensor Control is a high-performance, real-time active system that requires dedicated resources from the VM host to operate properly.
To help ensure proper operation, follow these guidelines when provisioning the Sensor Control VM:
-
Hyperthreading on the host must be disabled.
CAUTION: Disabling Hyperthreading is a BIOS setting that impacts CPU allocation. If you plan to disable Hyperthreading on a hypervisor that is already hosting other VM applications, do this with care and diligence to avoid a negative impact on your deployed VMs.
-
CPU, Memory, and Disk resources must be reserved for the exclusive use of the Sensor Control VM being deployed.
-
Dynamic load balancing must be disabled when deployed on a hypervisor cluster (for example, vMotion). Do not move the Sensor Control within the cluster unless there is a hardware failure or a manual intervention. Moving the Sensor Control within a cluster impacts the Sensor Control operation and should be done during a maintenance window.
-
MAC preservation must be enabled when deployed on a hypervisor cluster.
-
The CPU, Memory, and Disk resources requirements may vary according to the type of deployment. Ensure to use the required settings for your specific deployment type.
