How to register a Capture Sensor with Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance

Pre-requisites

You need to have the following information:

  • Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance Sensor Capture (formerly Skylight sensor: capture) running version 23.08 or newer
  • URL of the host on which you want to register the sensor
  • A username and a password, see note below.
  • The sensor should be allowed to reach the IP address of the host and nats service on TCP port 443 - Ask our CSMs for this information if you are not sure.


Note: The default admin password will be changed once the Capture Sensor is registered by what is contained in the default profile of Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance (formerly Skylight). If you, the Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance user, have never set the password for admin in the default profile, the admin account’s password will be disabled.

Procedure

  1. To register a sensor in Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance, type the command "register skylight". You'll need to enter the host, username, and password :

  1. To check that the sensor is registered correctly, log into Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance (formerly Skylight performance analytics) as an administrator.
    Go to the Settings section, and on the "Capture" tab, click on "Sensors".

  1. Once the sensor shows "Online", a new Connector will also be listed automatically on the Settings > Session > menu:
