Configuring the EPL Service Using UNI Traffic

  • PDF

Article summary

This use case explains how you can configure an EPL service taking all UNI traffic and pushing a VLAN towards the NNI port and reverse path with a pop VLAN.

  • Configure the Customer VLAN Identification (C-VID) registration table for the UNI Port. This is for EVC mapping of the default customer VLAN ID to Service VLAN ID. Refer to Step 6.

  • Any untagged traffic on this UNI Port will be classified to default customer VLAN ID and mapped to the Service VLAN ID based on the Ethernet mapping and pushed with Service VLAN.

  • Reverse path on NNI port will receive Service VLAN tag packet, pop the service VLAN and switch to UNI port.

Note: To log in, enter your username (default is root) and password (default is admin123).

To configure an EPL Service using UNI Traffic

  1. Bring up the physical interface.
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# shutdown spanning-tree
Your Product(config)# interface xl-ethernet 0/1
Your Product(config-if)# no shutdown
Your Product(config-if)# end
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# interface xl-ethernet 0/2
Your Product(config-if)# no shutdown
Your Product(config-if)# end
  1. Configure customerEdgePort and ProviderEdgePort.
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# interface xl-ethernet 0/1
Your Product(config-if)# bridge port-type customerEdgePort
Your Product(config-if)# end
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# interface xl-ethernet 0/2
Your Product(config-if)# bridge port-type providerNetworkPort
Your Product(config-if)# end
  1. Configure TPID to ProviderEdgePort.
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# interface xl-ethernet 0/2
Your Product(config-if)# switchport egress ether-type 0x8100
Your Product(config-if)# switchport egress inner-ether-type 0x8100
Your Product(config-if)# end

Notes:
Supported TPID: 0x8100, 0x9100, 0x88a8.

CustomerEdgePort supports only 0x8100 TPID.

0x8100 is the default TPID for CustomerEdgePort.

0x88a8 is the default TPID for ProviderEdgePort.

ProviderEdgePort can be configured with three TPIDs: 0x8100, 0x88a8, 0x9100

Assurance Sensor F100 and F25 support configuring inner-ingress/egress ether-type and outer-ingress/egress ether-type.

  1. Remove all interfaces mapped to management vlan 1.
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# no interface vlan 1
Your Product(config)#end
  1. Create S-VLAN100 and assign the member ports.
Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# vlan 100
Your Product(config-vlan)# ports xl-ethernet 0/1, xl-ethernet 0/2 untagged xl-ethernet 0/1
Your Product(config-vlan)# end
  1. Create Ethernet Service mapping between C-VLAN and S-VLAN with Default C-VID to allow untagged traffic.

Note: This is for the EPL services of all untagged traffic received in UNI Port that are associated with default customer VLAN ID.

C-VLAN Registration table is added with the mapping of default customer VLAN ID with a service VLAN ID.

Your Product# configure terminal
Your Product(config)# interface xl-ethernet 0/1
Your Product(config-if)# switchport customer-vlan 10 service-vlan 100 untagged-pep true
Your Product(config-if)# switchport dot1q customer vlan 10
Your Product(config-if)# end
Your Product#

Note: Assurance Sensor F100 and F25 support fleUntagged-pep which can be set as TRUE/FALSE. If Untagged-pep is not configured, default Untagged-pep should be set to FALSE. UNI TO NNI.

Untagged-pep set to false – Preserve C-VLAN and add S-VLAN.

Untagged-pep set to true – Remove C-VLAN and only add S-VLAN.

Untagged-pep can be set as TRUE/FALSE. NNI to UNI.

  • Enter show vlan port config port xl-ethernet 0/1 to check EtherType.
Your Product# show vlan port config port gigabitethernet 0/1
Switch default
