Setting the Time Zone

This article explains how to set the time zone on a Skylight orchestrator appliance. The system is shipped with the time zone set to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This can be changed to the local time zone.

Procedure Requirements

A. This procedure must be executed from the Skylight orchestrator console. Open a remote SSH client (appliance IP address, port 2200) or connect to the CONSOLE port of the appliance.

B. This procedure must be executed as the visionems user. To execute this procedure, you must know the account’s credentials.

C. You must stop and restart Skylight orchestrator software after changing the time zone.

Procedure Steps

To set the time zone

1. Log in to the Skylight orchestrator console as the visionems user.

2. Stop the app_server by entering:
   service stop app_server

3. Stop the mysql by entering:
   service stop mysql

4. At the Skylight prompt, enter the following command:
   time edit timezone
   You will be prompted for your geographic area:

Configuring tzdata

Please select the geographic area in which you live. Subsequent configuration
questions will narrow this down by presenting a list of cities, representing the
time zones in which they are located.
1. Africa       4. Australia      7. Atlantic    10. Pacific     13. Etc
2. America      5. Arctic         8. Europe      11. SystemV
3. Antarctica   6. Asia           9. Indian      12. US

5. Enter the number corresponding to your area and press return.

6. When you are prompted to select a city or region, enter the number corresponding to the nearest city.

7. When you are prompted to select a time zone, enter the number corresponding to your time zone.
   The time zone is set.

8. Start the mysql by entering:
   service start mysql

9. Start the app_server by entering:
   service start app_server

The Skylight orchestrator application server restarts. When the application server is running, the Skylight orchestrator web interface is available.
