When relating to Ethernet Client Signal Failure (ETH-CSF), the following should be considered:
ETH-CSF Considerations
- ETH-CSF is used by an ECFM MEP entity to propagate to a peer MEP Entity the detection of a failure or defect event in an Ethernet client signal.
- ETH-CSF is generated by the Server and processed by the Client
- ETH-CSF is only applicable to point-to-point Ethernet transport applications.
- Configuration information required by an ECFM MEP to support ETH-CSF transmission are:
- Local MEG level
- ETH-CSF transmission period
- Priority
- Drop eligibility – Frames with ETH-CSF information are always marked as drop ineligible.
- Configuration information required by a MEP to support ETH-CSF reception is:
- Local MEG level – MEG level at which the receiving MEP operates.
- The ETH-CSF defect types:
- Client loss of signal (C-LOS)
- Client forward defect indication (C-FDI)
- Client reverse defect indication (C-RDI)
- Skylight Flex supports "Client loss of signal" (C-LOS)
- Skylight Flex supports ETH-CSF Client role with ETH-CSF reception and processing capability. ETH-CSF server component which generates ETH-CSF messages is not supported.
