This article explains how to edit the hostname of the appliance.
Procedure Requirements
A. A workstation (a Windows computer or other computer with a network interface) that has an SSH client application installed (PuTTY or a similar application).
B. This procedure must be executed as the visionems user. To execute this procedure, you must know the account’s credentials.
C. The hostname you want to assign to this appliance.
D. In general, we recommend using a unique hostname for each Skylight orchestrator appliance in your network.
Procedure Steps
To edit the hostname
Log in to the appliance console as the visionems user.
At the Skylight prompt, stop the Skylight orchestrator application server by entering:
service stop app_serverChange the host name by entering:
dns edit hostname new_hostname
where:
new_hostname is the host name you want to assign to this appliance.Restart the Skylight orchestrator application server by entering:
service start app_serverCheck that the hostname that you entered has been applied by entering:
dns show
The output should be similar to the following:
Host name : vision220
Domain : null
DNS Server 1 :
DNS Server 2 :
