Most problems can be solved at the dashboard level through filtering and nesting dashboards for investigative workflows, BUT when they aren't enough the Analysis application offers a powerful suite of tools.
Aggregate Analysis
- Analysis will download aggregate metrics and metadata for a subset of the data matching the filter (top 1000 sessions or top X% of capture rows)
- The aggregate metrics will be based on the time frame under investigation
- This is all cached in the browser, for a very fast UX
- Metrics and metadata to be collected is part of the “view”
Note
Be aware that expanding the scope (i.e. removing filters, changing data cleaning and time exclusion flags) or changing the time interval being analyzed will result in a notice to "Update Data". This will fetch the new Top aggregates.
TopN Dashboard Drill Down Workflow
- Go straight from a TopN into analysis without leaving the dashboard
- Analysis can be minimized and the new filter optional sent back to the dashboard
Analysis Views
- Analysis uses templates called "Views" to determine what metrics and metadata to pull back
- Accedian provides set of default views out of the box, or users can create their own and make them the new defaults.

Analysis Widgets
- Depending on the metrics selected in your View, Analytics will present the applicable Analysis widgets.
- Widget actions are all linked (for example filtering on a distribution impacts line charts, zooming on a geo map impacts tables, brushing the historgram filters everything!)
