Configure Telemetry Collector

To configure a Telemetry Collector, you will need to follow these steps, from within the Provider Connectivity Assurance user interface:

  1. Access Telemetry Collector Creation by navigating to Sensors > Collectors > Telemetry collectors.

  2. Click the + button on the upper right to begin creating a new Telemetry Collector.
    The following window will open:

  3. Enter the required details in the New telemetry collector sidebar:

    1. Name: Assign a unique name to your Telemetry Collector, in this example test2

      Note: The name must not contain spaces and should be distinct from all other collectors within your tenant.
      Best Practice Tip: To easily locate the collector in your inventory, create a name that includes the data source and environment, in this example: Cisco_IOS_XE_Production.

    2. Transform configuration: Select one of the pre-provisioned Transform configuration options, from from the pull-down menu, to pull and transform incoming data.

      Note:  Every Telemetry Collector must have its run-time Transform configuration defined in Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance. This configuration will be pushed to the Telemetry Collector when it is first connected.

      Note: The transform configuration includes the Base64 of the telegraf.conf TOML. This allows you to choose from pre-provisioned configurations, such as IOS-XE or IOS-XR default ingestion.

    3. Sensor Collector Data Address: Enter the Sensor Collector’s IP or FQDN for the data collector to connect to Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance.

    4. Sensor Collector Data Port: Enter the Sensor Collector’s data collector connection port that the telemetry collector will use to connect to Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance.

       

  4. Click the checkmark () in the top right corner to save your configuration settings.
    Now you will be able to see the Name in your list of Telemetry collectors.

  5. Click on the Name of your Telemetry collector to see the Summary of your new Configuration, as shown below:


  6. Click the Generate auth token button so that the Telemetry Collector can authenticate itself on the first connection to Cisco Provider Connectivity Assurance, you will also be able to copy the Agent secret (YAML), as shown below:

Now that your Telemetry Collector appears in the inventory list under Sensors > Collectors > Telemetry Collector, you can proceed with the deployment of your telemetry agents.
