In a system of thousands of objects, would it not be nice to filter the objects based on their activity? How do I know for any given object if it has reported in the last week or day without going to the dashboard view and selecting metrics? What if you wanted to remove objects that you do not need from the Network view?
The Object Archiving feature addresses the above questions.
You can select objects:
- That are/have been reporting
- That have been inactive for 24 hours
- That have been inactive for 7 days
- That have been archived
You can also archive objects for a period and revert them back, should the object become active again. As long as the ObjectID remains unchanged, the reporting can continue upon unarchiving.
Selecting stale objects for archiving
In the Network view, you can select what view you want to see.
Here you can select which object listing you wish to see. Selecting one view will unselect the others so the view is narrowed down.
Archiving and unarchiving can be done in different places
Network View
You can select any object to archive, regardless of it reporting stale or not. In the Network view:
- Search or find the object that you want to archive.
- Click on the object. A right hand side pane opens.
- Select the ... and click Archive this.
Once the object is archived the icon will change and the count of Archived object will increase as expected. Go back to the network view and select the Archived view to see all objects that are archived.
Object View
- From the network view, select any object to navigate to the object view dashboard.
- Click the archiving icon to archive the object
Bulk Selection
- In the Network view, select a view (inactive for 7 days for example).
- Click on the "Select # matches" (this will select all objects in that view).
- On the right pane, select the ... to Archive the selected objects.
Unarchiving Objects
Unarchiving objects follows the same process as archiving. Any time you have archived an object, you will have the ability to unarchive it.
