Overview
The Category and Metric Visibility feature allows administrators to manage and restrict which metadata categories and metrics are visible to members of specific user groups. This ensures that users view only the information relevant to their roles or responsibilities.
Key Points:
-
Stackable Permissions: Users can accumulate permissions from multiple user groups. For instance, if a user, John, is part of User Group A with access to
fm_type
, and User Group B with access toregion
andequipment type
, John will be able to view all three categories. -
No Restrictions by Default: If no categories or metrics are specified, members of a user group will have access to all categories and metrics.
-
Selective Visibility: Once any category or metric is added to the visibility list, users in that group will only see the specified categories or metrics.
-
Independent Lists: The Categorical and Metric lists function independently. This means you can fully enumerate and control categorical data visibility without affecting metric data visibility.
-
Session Metadata Allowlist: Any category included in your Session metadata allowlist (see Data Permissions) will automatically be visible alongside the specified categories in your Categorical visibility list.
