Article summary

You can view any alarm associated with the devices Legacy orchestrator manages.

Alarms are collected by the following:

  • Permanent CLI sessions established with each managed device
    • When this connection is established, Legacy orchestrator queries the managed device for its list of active alarms, and updates its internal alarm list. The same query is reissued whenever the device is resynchronized via the resynchronization process.
  • SNMP messages
  • Legacy orchestrator can:
    • Collect events for alarms raised and cleared from managed device via SNMP.

The alarm list for each device is kept up-to-date at all times.

    • Be configured to send notifications to northbound destinations such as OSS.
    • Messages are set up by accessing Administration ▶ SNMP.
    • Managed devices must be set up to send SNMP messages for alarms raised and cleared.

For detailed information about how to configure Legacy orchestrator for SNMP, see "Configuring Alarm Handling via SNMP".
